Privacy Policy

MapMyLife ("the app") is a game that reveals a map as you move through the real world. Location is the heart of the game, so this policy is blunt about exactly what we do with it.
Location data
- The app records your device's location while tracking is on, including in the background if you grant "Allow all the time" permission. You can stop tracking at any moment with the in-app Stop button.
- By default, your location history never leaves your device. It is stored in a local database on your phone and is used to clear the in-game cloud cover and detect nearby landmarks.
- Raw location points older than 3 days are automatically deleted from your device. Your revealed-map progress (a coarse grid of ~15-meter cells) is kept so your exploration is never lost.
Cloud sync (optional, premium)
- If you create an account and enable premium cloud sync, a simplified version of your walking paths and your revealed-map grid are uploaded to our backend (Supabase) so you can restore progress on a new device.
- Synced data is protected with per-user row level security: only your authenticated account can read or delete your rows.
- We never sell your data, never share it with advertisers, and never use it for anything except providing the sync feature.
Account
- Accounts use email one-time codes; we store your email address and a premium flag.
- You can delete your account and all synced data at any time from inside the app (Account → Delete account). Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Third parties
- Map tiles: the map is served by OpenFreeMap; tile requests expose your viewing area and IP address to the tile server, as with any online map. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Landmarks: points of interest come from OpenStreetMap.
- Backend: optional sync and authentication run on Supabase infrastructure.
What we don't do
- No ads, no ad SDKs, no analytics brokers, no data sales.
- No background location collection unless you explicitly grant it and start tracking.
